Ming Auralia

Product Description

Polyscias fruticosa better known as the Ming Aralia is an evergreen shrub from the family Araliaceae (Aralia plant).

A distinctively elegant-looking tropical with feathery, 'fern-like' foliage and slender branching. It is native to tropical areas from India to Polynesia. It's slow, compact growth unique foliage make it a popular choice for an indoor houseplant. It prefers bright, indirect light when grown indoors. If growing outdoors - in summer months, it will grow in full sun. It will tolerate low light but this may cause the plant to become leggy. You can prune your Ming aralia to keep it compact.

It does not like night-time temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit and daytime temperatures should be about 5° – 15° higher. Chilly drafts will cause your plant to loose its leaves. When growing indoors in colder climates, make sure to mist your plant regularly, ming plants need a degree of humidity to thrive. Ming aralia does flower in the summer, but this is rare when it is grown in non-tropical climates.

It is recommended that you use distilled or purified water when misting tropicals to avoid any calcium deposits that may build up on leaves. Also most tropicals prefer room temperature water.

Ming Aralia has been said to symbolize peace, harmony, and balance.

All parts of aralia plants are considered toxic and contain saponins which cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea if ingested. Parts of the plant may also cause mild skin irriation. It is recommended that you keep your ming plants out of reach of pets and children.
