Spathiphyllum

Product Description

Spathiphyllum - 'Peace Lily'

A staff favorite and a poplular gift plant, not only because of their elegant, yet exotic-looking flowers but also because they are so easy to take care of.

Spaths like bright filtered light, and can tolerate both florescent light and low light or part shade areas. It is best to keep them out direct sunlight. Since they do have rather large, flat leaves, cleaning dust off their leaves will help them thrive since the dust will block their ability to absorb light.

When it comes to watering your spath, the best method is to simply check and see if the soil is too dry. Overwatering is one of the most common mistakes when growing spaths indoors. Another indicator is when your plant's leaves begin to droop.

Spaths, aka Peace Lily are said to represent purity, prosperity, peace, and sympathy.

Spaths are said to be effective air-cleaners, removing benzene, formaldehyde, ammonia, trichlorethylene, xylene, and toulene from the air.

Many tropical plants are toxic to both pets and humans if the leaves or other parts of the plant are ingested.  The sap of spath plants contains oxalate crystals, and if ingested is considered toxic to both pets and people.  The sap may also cause skin irritation.  Please make sure to place your spath plant out of reach from pets and children.
